A Sandusky man allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend Sunday night and stole her phone so she couldn’t call police.

Todd Dickerson, 41, 1000 block Columbus Ave., was charged with assault, domestic violence, theft and disrupting public service.

After an argument between Dickerson, his ex-girlfriend and her sister at about 11 p.m., Dickerson allegedly started arguing about the woman always taking her sister’s side, according to a Sandusky police report. Dickerson split the woman’s lip and put her into a “wrestling move,” then allegedly covered her mouth and nose and told her, “Nobody’s going to hear you scream (expletive),” the report said.

After about 20 minutes, Dickerson let the woman go, taking her cellphone and charger with him, the report said. The woman fell asleep, then contacted police the next morning.

When officers questioned Dickerson, he denied stealing her phone and assaulting her.

Dickerson’s domestic violence charge was upgraded to a felony because of a prior domestic violence conviction.

He remains in the Erie County jail without bond.
