SUV with broken transmission stolen

At about 10 a.m. Sunday, a man who lives in the 1000 block of W. Jefferson St. told police his 2002 white Ford Explorer was missing.

He’d left the doors unlocked and a key in the glove compartment. But the man was still puzzled as to how the thief made off with the SUV — its transmission is busted and it can’t shift out of first gear, he told police.

Even so, police were unable to locate the vehicle. They scoured the area and the Explorer was nowhere in sight, the report said.

Anyone with information can call Sandusky police at 419-627-5863.
