50 years ago, 1964: The Forster China Company advertised a "Boy-With-a-Boot" figurine of china bisque, a replica of the famous Sandusky fountain figure, for $1.25. For an extra 10 cents they would mail the gift anywhere in the United States.
25 years ago, 1989: Two former Sandusky residents were aboard a missionary plane that was hijacked from Haiti to Miami by two armed soldiers who brandished pistols and automatic rifles. The two gunmen were arrested without incident after the eight-seat Cessna 420 landed safely at Miami International Airport.
10 years ago, 2004: Within a month, consumers could expect to pay 50 cents more for a gallon of milk, an increase resulting from a combination of shrinking dairy herds, higher feed and beef prices, less growth hormone and the emergence of mad cow disease.
