50 years ago, 1964: Sanduskians would continue buying their liquor on standard time regardless of any 'daylight saving time' rules which might be adopted by the city, the Department of Liquor Control said.
25 years ago, 1989: An alarming report by Canadian fisheries scientists raised grave doubts about the health of Newfoundland's legendary northern cod stocks - and by extension, doubts about the future of some 50,000 fishermen and processing workers. Cod were not growing as fast and sharply reduced fishing quotas were being considered.
10 years ago, 2004: Helping to fill church pews could help put one lucky parishioner in the driver's seat. To attract and retain members, the pastor at Cathedral of Life Church, Canton, would give away a car at the Easter service. Note: No, that is NOT the real car that was given away. It is just a funny car/church picture.
