Sandusky police are searching for a man who assaulted a Perkins Township woman on West Monroe Street Saturday evening and made off with her purse.
The 65-year-old woman had just finished eating at Cameo Pizza around 6 p.m. when she stepped outside to wait while her husband brought their car around.
She’d spotted her future assailant farther down the sidewalk, the woman said, but the next thing she knew, she was on the pavement.
“He didn’t just hit me, he used his body,” the woman said. “He bodyslammed me and I fell way out into the street”
While she was down, her attacker grabbed her purse and sprinted away, according to a Sandusky police report.
Inside were her bank cards, $200 cash and her phone, the report said.
A restaurant patron later described the man as black, about 6 feet tall, wearing a black and gray striped sweatshirt, black sweatpants and red shoes, the report said.
The man ran north from the scene and has not been seen since.
Though Sandusky police officers scoured the area, they were unable to locate a suspect, and surveillance cameras at the restaurant did not cover the location where the robbery occurred, the report said.
The woman, meanwhile, was treated at Firelands Regional Medical Center for bruising on her ribs and body.
On Tuesday, detectives returned to the area to track down other possible surveillance video from the incident. They also checked nearby residences in case someone saw where the robber went, police said.
