50 years ago, 1964: Hill's Gas-A-Rama on Milan Road provided one-stop center for gas, auto services, carry out, groceries and delicatessen. The 9x127 ft. walk-in cooler kept beverages cold. There was even an ice machine that dispensed ice cubes.
25 years ago, 1989: The proposed increase in federal minimum wage would have no effect on Cedar Point's seasonal hiring. The park hoped to hire about 3,200 employees, but was exempt from the minimum-wage restrictions because they were a seasonal employer.
10 years ago, 2004: "The Passion of the Christ" was the top film for a third straight weekend, taking in $31.7 million and pushing its total beyond a quarter of a billion dollars. Mel Gibson's dramatization of Christ's final hours climbed to $264 million in the U.S. after 19 days.
