Erie County deputies said they’re reviewing the case with prosecutor Kevin Baxter’s office to determine if the man will face charges for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a fourthdegree felony. If charged and convicted, he could face 18 months in prison, Erie County Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said.

When deputies interviewed the man and the girl Monday, they both said they’d been involved in a consensual sexual relationship for about two years, beginning when the girl was 14, Oliver said. The girl will soon turn 16.

The girl’s parents contacted authorities Friday and said their daughter had been out with the suspect and another man, and she had not returned home. They told deputies they were afraid their daughter had been raped by the man. The girl was examined at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
