Area police departments are beefing up their manpower this weekend as residents kick off St. Patty’s Day celebrations. Multiple police agencies are using grant funds to place additional officers on the road, primarily to watch for impaired drivers.Erie County deputies plan to pay special attention to the corridors of U.S. 250 and Ohio 2, 4, 6, 60 and 61.

Norwalk police reminded those celebrating to plan ahead for a designated driver or a taxi to avoid driving drunk.

For those hosting parties, Norwalk police encourage serving plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and preventing intoxicated guests from getting behind the wheel.
