State Controlling Board members agreed Monday to allocate the state’s portion of funding toward the Allied Health & Science Expansion Project at BGSU Firelands, according to a news release.

Rep. Chris Redfern, D-Catawba Island, is a member of the seven-person board and voted in favor of the decision. Bostwick Design Partnership, based in Cleveland, will design the project, according to the State Controlling Board’s resolution.

Bowling Green State University’s main campus trustees approved the project in December. It calls for an addition to the college’s North Building and significant renovations to its North and West buildings, to accommodate its highdemand health programs.

BGSU Firelands will fund about 43 percent of the project, with 32 percent coming from private fundraising and the remaining 25 percent from state funding.

The plan is in its initial stages, and as of December was scheduled for a tentative completion in 2016.
