The award indicates the districts have met financial and legal requirements on federal, state and local levels.
To qualify for the Auditor of the State Award, a district must fulfill several criteria, according to the state auditor’s website:
•It must file timely financial reports with the state auditor’s office.
•Its audit report must not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, single audit findings or questioned costs.
•Its management letter contains no comments related to ethics referrals, questioned costs less than $10,000, lack of timely report submission, reconciliation, failure to obtain a timely single audit, findings for recovery less than $100 or public meetings or public records.
New London Schools is the only other area district to receive an Auditor of the State Award since November, when the Register most recently addressed the topic.
In January, Sandusky officials also received the award for the city’s finances.
