Camille Gill wins January YES! Award

The Volunteer Center of Erie County announced Camille Gill as the January 2014 winner of the Youth for Excellent Service Award. She was nominated for this award by program coordinator Beth Frank for her volunteer service with Heartbeat Pregnancy Center of Sandusky in Stepping Up to Success, a program that gives skills and aid to young mothers.

   “She has been an important part of the group and always has a smile on her face,” Frank said. “Camille is always willing to help in whatever capacity is asked of her”

   Camille is a senior at Edison High School. She is involved in many activities, which include National Honor Society, French Club, Ohio Veterans Home, Friends of Rachel Anti Bullying Program and queen’s court at The Milan Melon Festival.

   “I never pass up an opportunity to volunteer,” Camille said. “Knowing that I can make other people happy is very rewarding feeling”

   Camille is the daughter of Alvin and Heather Gill. She plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in psychology next year.

   As the January YES! winner, Camille will receive a certificate and $50 Visa Card. The Youth for Excellent Service Award is generously supported by the Buckeye Cable System.    The Volunteer Center, a Partner Agency of the United Way of Erie County, mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems and needs.
