50 years ago, 1964: Faced with a deluge of letters, Sandusky City Commissioners decided to wait one more week before deciding whether or not to place the Daylight Savings Time issue on the May ballot.
25 years ago, 1989: Dodgers pitcher Orel Hershiser signed a dream contract, the product of a dream season and seven weeks of negotiations. Hershiser, National League Cy Young Award winner and most valuable player of playoffs and World Series agreed to a three-year, $7.9 million contract.
10 years ago, 2004: Four young local men drove up to a car on fire in a ditch and found a 17-year-old girl trapped inside. The teens picked up the car so the Elyria teen could escape. Jason Gibboney, Justin Kijowski, Mike Otternbacher and Ryan Schuster worked together to move the car and free the girl.
