Using stolen credit cards, an individual recently purchased 29 gift cards, valued at $500 apiece, from Kalahari Resorts, according to an Erie County Sheriff’s report.

On Friday, a 23-year-old Detroit man visited Sandusky’s resort at 7:40 p.m. with two women and four of the gift cards.

He told deputies he purchased them Wednesday from an “unknown person” outside a shopping plaza on Grand River Avenue in Detroit, according to the report. The man gave the seller $50 and received $2,000 worth of gift cards.

Deputies explained the situation and searched the man and didn’t locate any stolen credit cards. The two women declined to be searched and “did not wish to be involved”

Kalahari Resorts canceled the group’s reservation and requested the individuals leave the property, according to the report. They did so without any incidents.
