50 years ago, 1964: Phyliss Kromer, piano and organ player, was featured every Friday and Saturday evening at Cronin's Tavern, 1117 W. Washington St., Sandusky. Hostess/owner Bee Baumgardner said Phyliss had an appreciative crowd every weekend.
25 years ago, 1989: Archie Comics celebrated its 47th year at a birthday bash for hundreds of teenage fans. Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and Jughead were all on hand in mid-town Manhattan along with 5000 members of Archie fan clubs.
10 years ago, 2004: The White House, trying to end doubts about President Bush's Vietnam-era military service, released documents that it said proved he "met his requirements" in the Texas Air National Guard.
