Clyde police arrested Michael Shrewsbury, 30, early Saturday morning after the woman’s friend called police for help as he was leaving her residence in the 200 block of Midvale Avenue.

When officers arrived, they could hear a woman inside screaming, and as they tried to kick in the front door, she jumped head first from a window, then reached back inside the house to get her 3-year-old son.

Shrewsbury then opened the front door and police ordered him out at “Taser-point” and handcuffed him. The victim told police she’d been at a bar and Shrewsbury was home with her son. He left the boy at home and went to find her to make her go home.

The woman stayed with her friends at the bar, however, and later returned home escorted by another friend. Shrewsbury and the man argued, and Shrewsbury forced the man outside.

When the woman tried to escape through a living room window, Shrewsbury allegedly dragged her, threw her around the house and tried to choke her.

Police arrested Shrewsbury for domestic violence, drug abuse, unlawful restraint and endangering children.

He remained jailed Tuesday afternoon.
