Kevin Wertz, 22, of Bascom, also was fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for five years, according to a news release from the Seneca County prosecutor’s office.

This week, a jury found him guilty of a single charge of vehicular homicide for causing the crash that killed Jacob Hohman, 20, of Bascom, on Oct. 27, 2012.

Wertz was driving a F-250 with three passengers, including Hohman, when he ran a stop sign on County Road 58 at the county line and lost control of the vehicle.

The truck struck a ditch and rolled over.

Hohman later died from his injuries.
