While charges have yet to be filed, investigators are pursuing at least one man for the alleged crimes, Detective David West said.

A 36-year-old man told police he was robbed at gunpoint by two men when he was at a home in the 900 block of Maple Ave., police said.

The victim recognized one of the robbers from a previous encounter, but he didn’t know his name. The two robbers approached the man at about 6:30 p.m., brandishing a small-caliber silver handgun and robbing him of $200 cash, police said. The pair then allegedly fled north in a small, red vehicle.

West said police were able to dig up the suspect’s identity based on information the witness provided. Officers plan to re-interview the victim and a witness in hopes of positively identifying the suspect.

If it’s a match, charges will follow.

“We’ll confer with the two witnesses to see if it’s the same man” West said.

Sandusky police are also still investigating two armed robberies at two local carryouts.

Pizza House West and Variety Village Drive-Thru were both robbed at gunpoint within a two-hour span on Nov. 24. As of Monday evening, Sandusky police Detective Jonathan Huffman reported no new developments in those robberies.
