50 years ago, 1963: For the first time in the history of Huron, picketers took to the water in an attempt to stop the freighter, E. T. Wier from leaving port. When tugmen from Great Lakes Towing would not cross the picket line, the captain took the ship from port by himself.
25 years ago, 1988: "Hell no, we won't show" was heard among a group of college students protesting Playboy magazine's attempt to recruit female Villanova University students on their campus. Only 18 girls showed up for the photo shoot.
10 years ago, 2003: For the second year in a row, the Sandusky/Erie County Visitors and Convention Bureau won the Ruby Award for promoting tourism from the Ohio Travel Association.
