Philip Ramsey, 40, 260 block Pioneer Trail, was charged with assault and driving under suspension.

Ramsey rolled up to the drive-through window at the Hayes Avenue BP Tuesday around 3:30 a.m., according to a police report. The clerk who waited on Ramsey is the current boyfriend of the mother of Ramsey’s child, and Ramsey began telling him he wanted to see his son, the report said.

When the clerk said he could do nothing about that, Ramsey allegedly reached into the store and punched the clerk’s chin. He pulled away then began to pump the gas he’d already paid for, but the clerk shut off the flow and called police, the report said.

Ramsey pulled away, but an officer soon caught up with him on Hayes Avenue. Ramsey told officers the judge would “laugh at them” for charging him. He was released on his own recognizance.
