50 years ago, 1963: Amateur safe-crackers walked off with a least two bottles of morphine from one safe, and may have looted another safe containing the day's receipts at Wally's Food Town.
25 years ago, 1988: A taping of the Geraldo Rivera show titled "Young Hate Mongers" erupted into a free-swinging melee that left the host with a broken and bloody nose. A dozen cops were called to the Times Square studio, Rivera refused to press charges.
10 years ago, 2003: The City of Sandusky received $10,000 to go toward studying the feasibility of a city sports arena. The board of the Erie County Visitors & Convention Bureau recommended the award. The money came from the one percent bed tax.
