50 years ago, 1963: One of the hottest battles in network television involved the two big early evening news programs. NBC with Chet Huntley and David Brinkley vied for first place against CBS and Walter Cronkite. Both programs had approximately the same size audiences.
25 years ago, 1988: Bay View Mayor Paul Snyder felt satisfied after a hearing formally announcing the dismantling of Bay Bridge. But other Bay View residents were far from pleased, fearing the village would be cut off from the surrounding area.
10 years ago, 2003: Sandusky did not reach the goal of $600,000 it hoped to generate with its 8 percent paid parking tax. The city took in $346,126 for the year. Cedar Point paid $344,737 of that tax, under protest, and planned to sue the city for tax discrimination.
