50 years ago, 1963: A Perkins Township man missed death by inches when a .32 calibre bullet ricochet through a window and lodged in the wall over his head. A neighbor testing his new hand gun was responsible for the near miss.
25 years ago, 1988: Eskimos, frustrated by the failure of military and oil industry experts, began their own attempt to cut three gray whales trapped by Arctic ice 4 1/2 miles from open water. An ice breaking barge was bogged down in ice 200 miles away.
10 years ago, 2003: Top movies for the week of Oct. 28, 2003: "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Kill Bill - Vol. 1," "Runaway Jury," The School of Rock," "Mystic River," "Good Boy!" and "Intolerable Cruelty."
