Kapricia Morgan, 23, of the 400 block of Cove St., was charged with felony theft and burglary.

Tuesday morning, the Cove Street home’s landlord discovered that her $2,000 wedding ring set and her grandfather’s diamond ring was missing, along with a handful of DVDs.

The landlord immediately suspected Morgan, as she lived in the lower portion of the house and had recently been hocking jewelry at Cashland for rent money, the report said.

In recent days, the landlord left her door unlocked to allow her cat access to the rest of the building to hunt mice, the report said. The woman also allowed Morgan upstairs at anytime to borrow DVDs when she wanted.

That in mind, the landlord went to Cashland and found her missing rings. Employees later confirmed Morgan was the one who brought in the jewelry, the report said.

Officers arrested Morgan when she returned home. Sandusky Municipal Court Judge Erich O’Brien ordered her to remain in the Erie County jail until the landlord could change the locks at the Cove Street home. She has since been released from jail.
