Barker Street:

At about 1 p.m. officers searched near Camp, Carr and Barker streets for three men, one of whom was possibly armed, according to a police report.

A witness directed police to a Camp Street apartment, but when officers arrived the men jumped from a window and escaped. Inside the apartment, however, police found a rifle, semi-automatic shotgun, scope, ammunition and Xbox. A Pearl Street resident later discovered the items had been stolen from his home.

Tyler Street:

As an officer searched for the three men in the above incident, he spotted Angel Kennedy, a Sandusky man wanted on two bench warrants. The officer told Kennedy, 23, of the 200 block of McDonough St., to stop, but Kennedy took off on a bicycle.

As he pedaled away, Kennedy told the officer “you can ride with me,” according to a police report. When a police cruiser pulled in a driveway to block his path, Kennedy ditched the bike, hopped a fence and took off running.

Another officer caught up to Kennedy and arrested him. He was wanted for failure to appear in court on charges of complicity to robbery and felonious assault and failure to comply with bond conditions. The pursuit landed him an additional charge of obstruction, and he was taken to Erie County jail and held on $5,000 bond.

Hancock Street:

At about 3 p.m. officers spotted Trae Caffey, 19, a Port Clinton man wanted for failure to appear at trial.

Caffey, of the 1100 block of Third St., was chatting with a friend outside when an officer called out to him. Caffey darted behind a home and jumped over a fence, but doubled back to avoid officers, according to a police report.

His friend, Aaron Johnson, 31, of East Parish Street, allegedly pointed officers in the opposite direction, saying “he ran that way.”

Officers continued in Caffey’s direction, finding him in the 800 block of Hancock St, where he was quickly arrested and taken to the Erie County jail.

Johnson was charged with obstruction.
