Cars, Christmas, kids

An event Saturday in Sandusky aims to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for area children in need, according to organizers.

"Customized for Kids" is noon to 4 p.m. at the Sandusky Eagles Club, 1235 W. Perkins Ave.

The event is open to all vehicles — modern or classic — that have been customized. Got a lawnmower? Bring it. A cool go-cart? Bring that, too.

The local organization hosting the event is United Streetz of America, led by David England, who said 100 percent of the proceeds "will be used to purchase toys for less-fortunate children at Christmas."

The cost to register a vehicle is $10. The event will also include a 50/50 raffle, and guests can dig into some free barbecue food.

For more information call David England at 419-973-6181.
