50 years ago, 1963: Bambergers, on West Market Street, was offering a large assortment of lady's hats for the fall season. Velvets, felts, velours, feathered and whimsies were on sale for $1-$20.
25 years ago, 1988: A new federal law went into effect limiting how long a bank could hold a deposited check. The funds from a local paycheck deposited into an account had to be available within three business days.
10 years ago, 2003: A Norwalk man was arrested and charged with public indecency after neighbors told police he was swinging his backside at people driving past while clad in a bikini. According to police reports, officers found the bikini did not cover his private parts.
