Sandusky officers went searching for Linda Sandle-Eagans, 55, 700 block E. Park St., after she called 911 at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report.

She said she wanted to talk to an officer, but couldn’t stay where she was because she had to go buy cigarettes. Officers were unable to find her until she called back and told them she was in the parking lot at the library.

She had slurred speech, glassy eyes and was unsteady on her feet. She told officers she called 911 because she needed smokes.

On the way to jail, Sandle-Eagans told police someone took her grandchildren and her beer out of her house, so officers drove her to her home to check out the complaint. There they met a neighbor who said he saw Sandle-Eagans passed out on the porch, so he took her two grandchildren to come sleep in his living room.

Sandle-Eagans claimed he also took $2,077 worth of money orders and a case of beer. The mother of the children later arrived and picked them up.

Sandle-Eagans was taken to jail and charged with obstructing official business, misuse of 911 and voluntary intoxication.
