50 years ago, 1963: An Atlas space vehicle was erected at NASA Plum Brook facility. A Centaur rocket, a vehicle designed to become an upper stage of the Atlas, was to arrive on the grounds to tip the Atlas. The rockets will not launch from Plum Brook, but be subjected to several years of testing.

25 years ago, 1988: Despite last minute appeals, the Sandusky Nursing Home packed up and removed all residents remaining in the home's unit for the mentally retarded. The State ruled the home was providing inadequate care and no longer eligible for Medicaid reimbursements.

10 years ago, 2003: BGSU Firelands opened its new 30,000-square-foot, $8 million Cedar Point Building. The facility melds multi-media, digital media, wireless networking, and flexible building design into a state of the art learning, conference center.
