50 years ago, 1963: The Ohio Theater was playing "Donovans' Reef" starring John Wayne and Lee Marvin, while the State Theater featured "Bye Bye Birdie" starring Janet Leigh, Dick Van Dyke, Ann-Margret, Jesse Pearson and Ed Sullivan.
25 years ago, 1988: Downtown Sandusky business owners wishing to alter the outside of their buildings had to get approval from the recently created Downtown Design Review Board. City Commissioners gave the board authority to approve or deny any changes.
10 years ago, 2003: A lottery ticket sold in a Perkins Township store, and worth $175,000, remained unclaimed two weeks after the lucky numbers were drawn. The Mega Millions ticket was purchased from Tops Friendly Market on Milan Road. The winner had 180 days to claim their prize.
