50 years ago, 1963: Hollywood Update: Lee Remick was slated to do a turn as a song and dancer in an upcoming Andy Williams special; Patti Page was being paged to join Bob Hope in his next feature film, "A Global Affair," and Vic Damone went to Washington to sing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," in front of the Washington Monument.
25 years ago, 1988: Over 150 onlookers watched as Sandusky Police Chief Gerald Lechner and Sheriff John Magnuson dug into the dry earth behind the county highway department and the county services center on Columbus Avenue for the groundbreaking of the the new Erie County Jail.
10 years ago, 2003: Talk show host Jerry Springer filed papers to run for the U.S. Senate. Springer, 59, former Cincinnati mayor, was airing informercials across the nation to raise money and build support for his possible run for public office.
