50 years ago, 1963: A record low temperature of 32 degrees was set in the Sandusky area, according to weatherman Donald Post. The previous low of 53 degrees was set in 1918. Lower temperatures were expected to continue for several days.
25 years ago, 1988: A 180-foot ship, loaded with 72 tons of marijuana worth more than $280 million, was towed into Seattle by the Coast Guard. The seizure of the vessel and its 18 crew members was the largest drug haul ever on the West Coast.
10 years ago, 2003: Perkins residents from St. James Place complained to township trustees that they could hear music from the new bar Shifters, on Milan Road, at home with the windows down as late as midnight.
