50 years ago, 1963: The Huron Hotel was sold at Erie County sheriff's auction to Chester Sender, Elsworth Piper, and Carl Wechter, all of Huron, for $12,666.67. No immediate plans were announced for the use of the 19-room hotel and 7-room home located at the rear of the property.
25 years ago, 1988: CBS denied that Mighty Mouse snorted cocaine in a cartoon shown in April of 1988. The American Family Association charged the mouse sniffed powder from his cape. Mighty Mouse animator Ralph Bakshi said the mouse was sniffing a flower and he was the target of a smear campaign.
10 years ago, 2003: Sandusky's paid parking tax took another victim - one of their own. The city is imposing an eight percent tax on its own 21 personal golf carts being stored at the city-owned Mills Creek Golf Course.
