50 years ago, 1963: Gundlach's Food Center, W. Monroe Street, was offering the choicest selections of meats and everything needed for the weekend barbecue or picnic. A complete line of staples, fresh produce, and U.S. Choice meats, including fancy rolled roasts, ribs, and steaks, were available.

25 years ago, 1988: Jean Comer showed all the fisherman a thing or two by catching the largest individual catch of the day in the Arthur Smith Walleye Tournament on Lake Erie. The walleye measured 28.8 inches and weighed 6.8 pounds. She caught the prize-winning fish off the southeast corner of Kelleys Island.

10 years ago, 2003: Bob Evans and the Bob Evans Restaurants celebrated their 50th anniversary. Evans and five of his family members joined as partners and incorporated his sausage company and restaurant in Gallipolis, Ohio. In 2003 there were 522 restaurants in 22 states that served 161 million customers a year.
