Bloominggrove Twp. — Five members of an Amish family were rushed to Med Center Hospital in Mansfield Thursday afternoon after being hit and spun off Baseline Road and ejected from a horse-drawn buggy.

Moses Sensenig, 28, was operating the buggy. He and his passengers Joann, 27, LaRose, 4, Bethany, 2, and Marilyn, 7 months, were transported by the Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department to Med Center suffering incapacitating injuries. LaRose and Bethany Senssenig were later transferred to Akron Children's Hospital.

A news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol gave the following information:

Elijah Brown, 16, was eastbound on Baseline Road and struck the buggy as it was southbound on Edwards Road attempting to turn onto Swanger Road. The impact forced the buggy off the east side of Swanger where the family was ejected. Brown's vehicle, a 1993 Chevrolet 1500 truck, came to a rest in the middle of Baseline Road.

The accident remains under investigation and alcohol is not considered a factor, according to the Highway Patrol.
