The worker, described only as a Hispanic male, was found face down in a pool of blood Sunday night at the Baseline Road home in New Haven Township south of Willard.
The man's field boss discovered his body after he went to the unit at about 10 p.m. Sunday, Huron County Sheriff's Capt. Ted Patrick said
Patrick refused to say why the field boss went to the home, and he declined to release any details about what deputies found at the crime scene, including the suspected cause of death.
"We're treating it as a death case. There were signs of a struggle and it was a violent death," he said. "I'm not going to go into any details."
Deputies are seeking two people of interest in the case.
"We are actively pursuing them to speak with them," he said.
Patrick refused to say if the victim was living in the housing unit alone, although up to five people can live in a single unit. He also refused to say if the victim had any family in the Willard area with him.
The victim has been in the area since at least April, Patrick said.
"We're taking steps to positively identify him," Patrick said. "As far as to the circumstances as to why we're taking our time, we want to move slow on this."
An autopsy was slated for Tuesday morning at the Lucas County coroner's office. A phone message left with Huron County coroner Jeffrey Harwood was not immediately returned.
Agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in the crime scene investigation.
