50 years ago, 1963: Ben Scott, 17, of Sandusky, and member of the Erie County Conservation League Junior Rifle Club, qualified for the National Rifle Association's Distinguished Expert Medal, the highest rifle qualification in the nation.
25 years ago, 1988: The Guinness Book of World Records first annual convention featured the girl with the longest hair (10 feet), the fastest talker (585 words per minute), an 8-year-old chess whiz, a guy who caught grapes in his mouth, and the master of 3,372 disguises, to name a few.
10 years ago, 2003: The 2002 year winners of the Grace Episcopal Church Bridge-a-Rama were Helen and Lowell Hoffman, first place, and Sherry and Lyle Marquardt, second place.
