50 years ago, 1963: Sidney Frohman, the Sanduskian known as the dean of the corrugated paper industry, was presented with a life membership of the Sandusky Yacht Club. Frohman, former president of Dauch Paper Co., had more than half a century of service to the yachting club.
25 years ago, 1988: In celebration of New Departure's 100th Anniversary, General Motors Corp. Chairman Roger B. Smith was to visit the Sandusky facility and address Erie County Chamber of Commerce. Smith never traveled to Sandusky before, and his visit was a positive indication of General Motor's commitment to Erie County.
10 years ago, 2003: Christine Bankieris, Jackson Junior High, was named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. The award was offered to students who excelled in academic disciplines.
