Three teens stole a paddleboat Wednesday night so they could gain access to boathouses near downtown Sandusky, police said.
The bulk of their haul appeared to be alcohol — they had 15 bottles of quality liquor when officers arrested them Wednesday night on Anderson Street.
The boys are ages 13, 16 and 17. They were still being questioned at the Meigs Street police station Wednesday night, with charges pending.
Police believe they stole a paddleboat from someplace, using it to gain access to boathouses from the water. Residents in the Anderson Street area spotted the boys on the paddleboat and, suspecting they were up to no good, called police.
Officers arrived and quickly arrested the three, who by then had shored their boat and were walking away from the area.
Collectively the liquor is likely worth hundreds of dollars, police said.
