A Fremont man accused of fatally shooting his wife before firing two bullets into his own head has been released from the hospital and charged.

Randall Ross, 47, was charged with aggravated murder Wednesday, immediately after he was released from Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He has since been taken to an unidentified corrections facility, according to a release from Ottawa County Sheriff Steve Levorchick, although the release did not identify the facility. Ottawa County jail guards said Ross is not at the county jail, but they declined to provide his location.

Ross is accused of storming his way into a family member’s Carroll Township home March 27 and using a .40-caliber handgun to shoot his wife, Amy Ross, 43, once in the chest, authorities have said. The couple had marital problems for years, and Amy had been on the cusp of securing a divorce.

Immediately after killing his wife, Ross turned the gun on himself, authorities said. He somehow managed to shoot himself twice in the head, surviving both wounds. He had been in the hospital up until Wednesday.
