50 years ago, 1963: An undetermined amount of cash was taken in a burglary of a Perkins High School safe. Thieves apparently smashed through a concrete block wall of the school office next to the wall safe. The room was trashed and several petty cash boxes emptied. No large sums of cash were left in the safe overnight.
25 years ago, 1988: An outdoor heated pool was slated to open June 4 at Osborn Park, more than two years after Erie county voters approved a 1/2 mill, 20-year levy with assurances that a pool would be built.
10 years ago, 2003: From the Locals: Fins & Feathers was having Karaoke and a Fish Fry; Dome Sports Pub was hosting a Pajama Party; Margaritaville featured a Cinco De Mayo party; and the Sail Inn hosted the North Coast Rockers.
