50 years ago, 1963: President and Mrs. Kennedy announced they were expecting their third child in August 1963, and were elated. The First Lady, 33, was in good health but would cancel her official activities.
25 years ago, 1988: Lake Erie caused headaches for some marina owners as lake levels continued their downward trend because of lack of rain and snowfall. Water levels hit an all-time high in 1986, but had been on the decline ever since.
10 years ago, 2003: For the second year in a row, Perkins Township Police Department entered into an agreement with Roeder Harley-Davidson & Buell to provide the township with motorcycles. In 2003 there would be five cycles on the force, compared to two the township used in 2002.
