50 years ago, 1963: The Soviet Union announced it was ready to accept a direct telecommunications link between Washington and the Kremlin to prevent an accidental outbreak of world war.
25 years ago, 1988: St. Mary Central Catholic High School junior Paul Stein attended the Presidential Classroom program in Washington D.C. The week-long program included lectures, speeches and discussion groups.
10 years ago, 2003: Northern Ohio braced for an April snow storm. Freezing rain, sleet and 2-4 inches of snow were predicted. Enough bad weather for the Cleveland Indians to postpone their home opener a day.
