One of this week's notes, from Put-in-Bay School:
Put-in-Bay School collected about $500 in March while participating in the Pennies for Patients "Penny War" community service program.
The program, founded in 1994, donates all of the collected money to individuals who are diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and melanoma.
More than 25,000 schools nationwide participate in the program each year.
