Church buys home

50 years ago, 1963: A Huron landmark, the former Warnke Home on Main Street, was purchased by St. Peter’s Catholic Church parishioners to be razed to make way for additional congregation parking. Also being razed was the former Hermes property on Huron Street.

25 years ago, 1988: Dayna Jo Harpster, Huron, was the winner of the Young Careerist Speak-off, sponsored by the Business and Professional Women of Ohio District 3. Harpster, editor of the Vermilion PhotoJournal, was eligible to compete in the state speak-off. 

10 years ago, 2003: Two local auto dealers received President Awards from the Ford Motor Co. Artino Ford, Huron, and Mathews Ford Lincoln Mercury, Perkins, both received honors. The award recognized dealers for sales, service and providing a good vehicle ownership experience.
