By the time Bellevue firefighters snuffed the blaze the semi-tractor was totaled, but neither the driver, Darren Ferrario, nor passenger, Craig Peterson, both of Minnesota, was injured.
A resident called 911 at about 7:30 p.m. after hearing what she described as an “explosion.”

“Several witnesses reported seeing the fire burning at the bottom of the trailer’s refrigerator unit,” Bellevue Fire Lt. Tony Schaffer said. “It then spread from the trailer to the cab.”
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 10 minutes, Schaffer said.
About 30 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the road along with about 8 gallons of engine oil. Firefighters called the Ohio EPA, who then scrambled a fuel clean-up company to take care of the mess.
Since Ferrario and Peterson were so far from home the American Red Cross helped them get a room.
Firefighters estimated the overall damage at $132,000. That includes 15,000 pounds of charred Lunchables. Damage to the rig was estimated at $57,000.
