Juan Recio Jr., 37, 400 block Pearl St., is charged with two counts driving under the influence, resisting arrest, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, obstructing official business and assault.
When police tried to stop Recio’s vehicle near the intersection of Camp and Filmore streets at about 4 a.m. Sept. 21, Recio took off.
The chase reportedly hit speeds of 80 mph as officers pursued Recio through the city. During the chase, police say Recio ran two stop signs and a red light before stopping at the intersection of Milan Road and McKelvey Street.
There Recio bailed, leading officers on a foot chase until they caught up with him on Franklin Street.
The grand jury also indicted Jonteal Cherry, 18, 2000 block Foxborough Circle, with a single charge of felonious assault.
Cherry is accused of stabbing a 17-year-old boy Nov. 22 on the 200 block of Reese Street.
An indictment is a formal charge and does not denote guilt or innocence.
