Perkins police: Do you know this burglar?

Emil Whitis • Aug 27, 2014 at 2:38 PM

Police were dispatched to the store, in the 2700 block of Old Railroad Road, at about 10:30 p.m. when a burglary alarm went off.

Officers rolled up and found a shattered window on the backside of the Galloway Brothers building. The culprits were nowhere to be found.

“They might’ve been spooked by the video cameras,” Perkins police assistant Chief Robb Parthemore said. “They probably heard the sirens coming, too.”

The business owners soon showed and surveying the scene, ultimately determining nothing had been stolen.

Police obtained the building's video surveillance footage, which showed a hooded man break out the window and climb through. Another suspect is seen standing watch outside.

Interior surveillance cameras recorded a full view of one suspect's face.

“These perpetrators are suspected of other crimes in the area,” Parthemore said.

Parthemore pointed to a burglary about a week earlier, at DJs Truck Services, which borders Galloway.

A DJ’s Truck Services employee called police at 7 a.m. and told them someone broke into the shop. Police arrived to find a shattered garage window.

Two laptops and loose change had been stolen from the office.

“It seems like there’s been a lot of burglaries in the area lately,” Perkins police assistant Chief Robb Parthemore said. “We’re not sure which ones are related.”

A man suspected in a rash of Perkins Township break-ins was arrested in Kentucky Oct. 27, when he crashed a vehicle that had been stolen from an automotive lot in Perkins Township.

But Terry Hardin, 48, of Sandusky, isn't headed to Perkins anytime soon. In addition to his charges in Kentucky, there's also a warrant for his arrest in Mississippi.

Hardin was charged with receiving stolen property, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of alcohol in a vehicle, and driving under suspension.

Anyone with information about the break-ins at DJ's Truck Service and Galloway Brothers can call Perkins police at 419-627-0824.
