Mark B. Hickman, 31, of Clyde, was driving a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis north on Tiffin Road at about 12:30 a.m. when he went off the right side of the road. Hickman corrected and re-entered the roadway before losing control and traveling off the right side of the road again, troopers said.
The Mercury hit a ditch and a utility pole before overturning and coming to a rest in a field.
Hickman suffered serious injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, troopers said.
