A Sandusky County grand jury is slated to hear a case involving three county jail guards accused of sexually abusing a naked, mentally ill woman locked in a jail cell.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said Tuesday the grand jury is scheduled to hear the case Sept. 18.
That’s about eight months after the Jan. 10 incident involving jail guards Frank Kaiser, 31; Charlie Pump, 34; and Joshua Smith, who have since lost their jobs.
The three men were all working the same shift at the Sandusky County jail Jan. 10 when a 21-year-old schizophrenic woman returned to the jail after a court hearing. Investigators later concluded Kaiser, Pump and Smith played varying roles in harassing the inmate while she was locked in the cell alone.
