Last of ConAgra building toppled

Huron officials expect the city’s most pressing project — aimed at anchoring a downtown waterfront renaissance — to reach a major benchmark months ahead of schedule.

On Tuesday, construction crews demolished the last of 18 silos previously towering over the former ConAgra site.

Workers from Ed Burdue & Co. anticipate they’ll clear all rubble and remnants from the 10-plus acres by Aug. 22.

Once Huron officials receive the OK from state workers, city leaders in the public and private sectors will brainstorm ways to cultivate the area for commercial, residential or mixed use.
